Friday Faces

This week, meet Clare.  We are lucky to have her not only as a shop assistant, but you could say that she is our official photographer too.  She's done most of our recent fashion shoots, and just finished a whole lot of new images for the Fittees website.  Great work, you'll agree. Aside from being a wonderfully creative photographer, passionate about making her subjects look beautiful, she is most kind and sweet and a real asset to us behind the counter at Hello Again. 

How did it happen that you started working at Hello Again?
I had visited Trynity at the shop a few times before work, and in
February she asked if I could help out at the shop. I said yes and
here I am!

What is the best thing about working at Hello Again?
The way the staff feels like a family and the fact that Toby and Lynne
commission my photography work from time to time. It's great to have
an opportunity to use my more practiced skills, not just operate a
till!

And is there anything you don't like about it?
Rude people who get upset that we don't stock the obscure things they
want, and the skelms who try and steal stuff! Oh, and people who walk
past and ring the gate's bicycle bell!

What is your favourite product at Hello Again?
The small run of Ladies hoodies that came out a little while back.
Perfect fit and nice and warm... I pretty much live in mine!

Who are your favourite Long street characters?
Leonard was my favourite when he was still around. But Coco and the
transvestite gang are pretty entertaining!

What do you do when you are not at the shop?  
I'm a photographer, shooting mostly portraits and musicians/bands, and
a little bit of fashion. (Sweet Nausea Photography)  So I spend my
spare hours planning,shooting and retouching. I also help out at an
awesome photographic art gallery in Woodstock called Museum.

What would you be doing every day if money was never an object?
Shooting as much as possible, getting tattooed and going on tour with
bands. And I'd have more rabbits and a ton of cats. I'm a bit of an
old lady like that.

Do you stand for/ feel strongly about anything? or is there anything
close to your heart you'd like to share here?
I feel very strongly about breast cancer awareness,as I lost my mother
to cancer in 2006.
I also feel strongly about standards in body modification and get
upset when I see really shoddy tattoo parlours with dodgy artists and
bad hygiene practices.

What is your preferred/ most used mode of transport?                                                                              I get lifts, take the train and walk.

What is your weekend fun?
Usually shooting or retouching. I also shoot live bands every now and
then. Otherwise relaxing and sleeping in. I savour the opportunity to
sleep late!
